Frequently Asked Questions
What type of insurance do you accept?
I'm in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Blue Choice PPO, United Healthcare/ Optum, and Aetna.
How do I know if my health insurance covers therapy?
There should be a "customer service" number on the back of your health insurance card. Call this number and ask about your "behavioral health" benefits. Some great questions to ask are: What types of care or types of providers are covered? Is a referral required? What will my out-of-pocket cost (such as a copay or coinsurance) be per therapy session? Do I have a deductible I need to meet first? Write down the answers to these questions, and I'm happy to help make sense of them when we meet for our initial consultation.
How do I know if you're in-network with my specific health insurance plan?
Most health insurance plans have an online provider finder, where you can search for therapists who are in-network with your specific plan. I suggest searching for my name here. You can also call the customer service phone # on the back of your insurance card to ask.
However, just because I am "in-network" with your plan does not mean that your insurance will necessarily cover some or any of the cost of therapy. See above for more information on checking your insurance coverage.
Do you take self-pay clients?
Yes! My self-pay rate is $150.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
I do offer a sliding scale to those who qualify, however at this time I do not have any additional sliding scale slots available for new clients.
How do you accept payment?
You have the option to pay your copays or out-of-pocket fees via credit card or zelle.
Will we meet virtually or in-person?
For my adult and older teen clients, we have the option of meeting either virtually or in-person. I find that in-person works best for my younger clients.
How does telehealth work?
We will meet virtually via a secure HIPAA-compliant platform. You will receive an email reminder and a link prior to each session.
How often will we meet?
We'll start out meeting on a weekly (or more) basis. For my clients age 12 and younger, I find it's important that we continue to meet weekly throughout our time together. Some clients may decide to meet less frequently as we progress, but please keep in mind this will likely mean a change to our meeting date/time as I reserve certain timeslots for weekly sessions.
How do we begin?
Please message me with your name, a brief sentence about what you're looking for, the name of your health insurance plan (if applicable), and general dates/times you're hoping to meet. Next we'll schedule a free, brief (~20 minute) phone call to see if it feels like a good fit and confirm a few details. If we decide to move forward from there, we'll schedule an initial session and I'll send you some virtual forms to complete. During our initial session, I'll ask you questions about your concerns, symptoms, history, and goals and we'll create a plan for our work together!
